Why not leave the Emperor on and running until the new canister filter become habitated? Or better yet, run both of them. I have never heard of a tank having too much filtration. I use Magnim 350's on my larger tanks. Fluval is overpriced and overpraised. As is Eheim. RENA is good, but uses bushings that can wear out. The Magnums use a magnetic, bushingless system, and is very economical.

my RENA doesn't have bushings...the impeller just sits in there magnitized. I'm pretty sure most filters are that way nowadays.
