I did a major tank cleaning on Friday night. I cut the light back to only 6 hours (for a while) and have really cut down on feeding. I used a butter tin, downstream and captured 95% of the one big blob.
The other was on floating plants and I took them out, rinsed them, and removed all I could, until I got tired of messing with them. I then lightly "scrubbed" any more I could find off leaves of planted guys.
Then cleaned all the glass very good, and used my small siphon to surgically remove about 25% water. That took awhile, but almost every drop that went up the siphon had goop in it!
After filling the tank, and letting the filter go awhile, it looks incredible. Water is much clearer and everything looks so much more green.
Thanks for everyone's advice.
