I went back to my fish store and got me a baby convict! He seems to hide in the bckground and swim on top of the water with his mouth to the top. Idk if this is normal. I have seen him eat the bloodworms. He does swim around.
I call it him bcuz he doesnt have a orange belly so i assume hes a male?

Probably a male without the orange. You do realize he will attain 6 inches, and require a much larger tank than a 20g?

Well, if it really is a Convict Cichlid [click the shaded name to see our profile, photos are included] I would return it now before it is too late. Better on the fish too.

Unfortunately one cannot rely on fish stores. There are some very good stores with knowledgeable staff, but there are many quite the opposite. Always, always research a fish online before you acquire it. It can save a lot of trouble, and prevent harm to the fishes.
