Question Stocking Ideas?

I am completely new to fish-keeping and I have purchased a 65 Litre Aqua One 500 http://www.onlineaquariumstore.com/a..._Aquarium.html . I was just wondering if you could advise me on any fish. I wont be able to set the tank up for at east 3 months ( Exams ) and then I will start the fishless cycle. Is this link OK http://www.ehow.com/how_2166427_do-fishless-cycle.html as i prefer the step by step guide . I would like colorful or unusual fish please . Thanks for any help/advise given!

Have you read this sticky thread?

If you find out what type of water you have, it can help narrow down your options and help people give you ideas that will suit your tank.

As tanker saqid, your choice of fish should be in line with your water, hard or soft, acidic or basic. It is safer and easier to acquire fish suited to the water you have available out of your tap than it is to attempt to adjust the water parameters to suit sensitive fish. When we know the water chemistry, ideas on possible fish will be easy. Not all fish will do well in the same water; some are adaptable to a certain degree, others are not.

Another article you should check out is on cycling, it is at the head of this section of the forum, here is a link: http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/f...m-cycle-38617/

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
