i need help with choosing fish for the 210 g tank... i recently emptied out my asst african cichlid tank to make space for the big one...

once the tank is setup and running, i want to try something different...

Petstores in NY are endless, so i am going to stop by each one when i get a chance to see what they carry... would appreciate your comments and suggestions...

A blackwater tank with SA dwarf cichlids, festivums, disccus, tetras, cories, farowellas, wood and alot of plants is impressive in at tank that size.
speaking of lots of plants... i have seen some heavily planted tanks online... when it comes to changing water and cleaning gravel... how do they do it... i use gravel vac for every water change and it messes up the plants off their roots all the time... I end up re-arranging the plants everytime... is there any other way!

I, too, have a few heavily planted tanks. I use reverse flow ugf's in those tanks. By running reverse flow, detritous does not settle as badly and the substrate does not compact. This makes the necessity of gravel sweeps almost nil. I also have gaggles of bottom feeders in those tanks. Mostly cories. Add to that, some of the tanks have been seeded with cone snails. These little guys really help.

you have so many options your best bet is just to go to the lfs and see what they ahve. see what you like write it down. you can have a monster tank or just a reg large community tank....
you see, thats the problem... the possibilites are endless... i have 5 LFS that i go to normally and few more around within a few minutes drive...

so, combined together, they all carry most of the fish... there is even one that carries FW stingrays if that makes comando489 happy...

so i am trying to make up my mind before i head out. i am pretty sure i am going to have a large community tank, but need help choosing the right community.

Not speaking from experience, but I have read on many a post that caution should be taken with mixing discus and angels. Just a word of warning, I'll try to dig out one of the threads so that you can read it...
hmmm, if you are able to find that post, that would be great... thanks... i will try and do some research on google as well...

If you want a larger fish and still want angels, discus and such get an Uaru. A truly gentle big fish. They are also cool in that they feed their young in discus fashion....the young will feed on the slime coat of the parents. A very, very good parent. They may be a little tough on some plants, however.

HELP!!!

my tank is filled with fish... i will update w/ pictures later...

210 Tank occupants
4-3" Gouramis
1 Silver Dollar
1-3" Jack Dempsey
1-4" Albino Oscar
1-7" Red Devil
1-7" Pacu
1-8" Electric Catfish
2-4" Tri Color Shark

i got these fish for free from someone who was holding them in a 150 gallon tank...

here is the problem... i need help... my dad is freaking out...

the fish needs to go :BIGweepy: and so does the tank... there was a problem with the filter and the water started to drip out on the floor slowly...

he is like its a disaster waiting to happen and does not want to take chances with 210+ gallons of water.

i convinced him in a way that i can sell the fish and drain out the water and keep the tank empty with some reptiles or something...

any suggestions... comments... i am so LOST!!!

Don't put reptiles they are sooooo boring. Try and fix the filter once you get rid of the fish. I know I HATE having to get rid of anything even if I don't like it but trust me reptiles are boring and just sit there. My brother has a gecko he would give you for free he doesn't want it and is looking into converting the tank into a fish tank. So if you are sure about the reptile thing I can get you a gecko....
