The stick burned? I just bought it..

I bought an aquarium safe stick and assumed i had to boil it, like drift wood. well, it burnt. it was a light brown/tan colour, now its black in some areas, maroon in others, and dark brown overall.

is it still okay to put in my tank, if its burnt? It was only boiling for 10mins tops.

I did that once, too. Just get a good soap-free brush and scrub off as much char as you can, then soak it for awhile, scrub again and put it to use.
