My poor little guy. When I bought him, I bought two others. The other two are more than triple his size now, and he's barely grown. He's missing an eye, one fin, and has no whiskers to feel the substrate out for food. I don't know if it happened before I bought him or just after, but he's pretty much always been this way since I've noticed. He's deathly skinny, but gets just enough food to not die. I feel as though I should be humane and put him out, but I don't have an efficient manner of doing so. Poor guy is clearly suffering.

Picture below of him:

Awwww... poor little guy. If you really feel that he is suffering, maybe you should put him out of his misery. Some people recommend smashing or decapitating the fish as the quickest and painless method but I could never bring myself to do that.

I use the clove oil, vodka method. Here's a link for instructions if you want to consider it. Good luck and sorry about your fish :(

Thanks. I would probably just let him die on his own, but that would be the best method. I read some of the other ones on the bottom. Smashing? Freezing? Seriously people?!

How long have you had him? He doesn't look that skinny to me but it maybe the picture, you maybe surprised if he's been like that awhile he may adapt to it.

My other two corys were his size when purchased, but at now triple his size. So I know he hasn't grown. And about 3 months.

If he's made it 3 months that's a good sign, I might try to drop food near him to make sure he gets some. If he can get enough food he might make it just fine.

I can't say if he is or isn't coping, but if he is lasting 3 months he must be. Fish can manage well without an eye (even both), and corys can manage without barbels. I've had both issues over the years.
