So now i have a snail!?!?

So i was just looking at my Java Fern and there is a TINY TINY snail, no more than 2mm in length. The only thing i can think of is that maybe it was already on the Java Fern when i got it and i didn't see it? There were other snails in that tank...i have no idea what kind of snail it is or how to care for a snail. Any thoughts? thanks guys!

What do they look like? Chances are they are most likely common/pond snails, those are the most common "surprise" snails.

most snails I have had in my tank came with my plants theres a tiny dark grey one that multiplies like crazy while I was cycling my tank I was taking 25 out a day, there would have been hundreds anyways loaches eat those snails so mine were gone as soon as I transfered them over I am sure when I buy new plants more come but I never get a chance to see them I have 15 loaches in my tank and they are a delicacy for them lol

Baby snails look like tiny replicas of the parents - so distinguising is easy as the shell structure is very different.

So far I have 5 baby snails that probably came with the plants. I'm counting more and more. Eeeek!!

a member on another forum gave me this advice...

Put a piece of lettuce weighed down by a rock or something in your tank, and it will attract any snails in the tank. Do this before you turn the lights out, then simply remove the lettuce in the morning, and you may notice several snails clinging to it.

I actually have Malaysian trumpet snails in my tank they hide during the day but the other day when I turned on the light they were all out it was weird the ones I don't want in my tank are the little greyish one that multiply by the hundreds my loaches have gotten rid of them
