So I decided to try sand

I tore apart the old tank, and bought a new empty tank and sand. I thought mixing black and white sand would look good but didnt mix how i thought it would. With 20 pounds of black and just 5 of white it looks like an even mix. What do you think?

Also is there any difference with plants between gravel and sand? like some that do better one way or another. Ive got one plant that ive had forever and Im trying to find out what it is right now, but I think Id want more of them.

the plant you have pictured above looks to be Cryptocoryne Walkeri....someone else may confirm/deny that...

Where did you get the mystery plants? Do make sure they're totally aquatic and not a pet store decieving you.

If you got it from Sweet Aquatics you can look on the invoice.

Wanted to mention also that dwarf hairgrass seems to like sand.

I like the look of your salt and pepper sand. I've had crypts in sand before and they seemed to do well in it. Good luck with your new tank.

I love the way the sand looks! Are you going for a low light low tech tank? If you are and you want to order your plants online here is a great place were I have got alot of my plant. I have always been very pleased with them.

That plant has been in the other tank so long I dont even remember how it got there. The wood does like a loop and Im hoping the fern plants will grow tall to cover the back or ill have to move them.

Edit: No idea why that pic turned out so huge.

Unfortunately thats as close of a pic as I can without sticking my phone in the water. I think Johnny may be right, pics on the google search match pretty well.
