What kind of snails do you have? More than likely, they came in with some plants.
If you are careful to not overfeed the tank, the snails will not reproduce quickly.
Some people put in food as bait, a leafy green or some zucchini and let the snails gather up on the food then remove.

Twistersmom is correct. I use romaine lettuce and hold it on the bottom with some gravel. Overnight they go onto the lettuce to eat. I just take the lettuce out with a net and get rid of the snails. Believe me, you willl be doing this forever now that you have snails.

Pepper - Shih Tzu Mix Dog, charcoal gray

Cobalt - Betta fish, Cobalt blue and purple
Rhett - Black molly fish
Scarlett - Black molly fish
Melanie - White molly fish
Mario - Red ramshorn snail
Luigi - Blue ramshorn snail

Seeking - betta fish lived 3 years, son named him for a Pokemon,

assassin snails, baiting them with fresh veggies and removing them.......A piece of squash or zucchinni on a stainless steel fork to weigh it down also works........Depending on the tank size, you could get some type of snail eating fish (loaches), but make sure you do your research and that your aquarium is large enough to handle them at their adult size....Alot of people make the mistake of buying them and not realizing their needs or adult size............One thing with crushing them and leaving them in your tank, you could cause an ammonia spike with all the dead snails decomposing in your water, just be careful and test regularly...........
