So we took a trip last week and were gone most of the week. I know some say, no worries, fish will be fine without food. I went ahead and added a couple of Tetra gel 5 day feeders. I'm happy to say that when I returned, all of the fish were fine. However, the gel feeders appeared untouched - about the same size as when I dropped them in? On the flip side, I added some floating plants some time ago and in spite of thorough rinsing, they introduced many tiny snails (hatched from eggs I guess). Anyway, the gel feeder wafers were snail magnets. When I pulled the wafers, a couple dozen snails came along, many underneath the wafer.
So if you have a snail problem, these inexpensive gel feeders may help?
