Silly question about wood

I'm currently using something that was labeled "Mopani" but it's a really dark wood and the only issues I've had is a slight leach of tannin even after boiling. But no "Fungus" of any kind has appeared.

Yeah here is what happened to me when I put Mopani wood in my tank!

Malaysian driftwood is really nice, Manzanita wood looks fantastic but I have never owned it.
