So one of my gourami's are sick. I'm worried that its the stress of adding new fish to the tank but cant be sure. He's been lying on the gravel not really moving and breathing a lot faster than normal. I separated him from the other fish and gave him some fresh water to see if that helped but No avail. The temperature is fine in my tank its arond 78-79 degrees. He's not eating. If i put something near it he'll move away and then just plop back down to the bottom. I havent noticed anything strange with its colour at all its gills and fins look quite normal. No one is going near him and nipping him is this intestinal or fungal... sound like anything anyone has come across before?

My ammonia and nitrites test zero and have almost nil nitrates. All the rest of the fish are very active. I have 2 swordtails, 3 guppy's and 1other gourami who is also fine. the guppys were put in 2 days ago and yesterday is when the gourami started acting funny this way.

Best you can do right now if keep an eye on the fish until it shows any other symptoms. Have you noticed anything different about its feces? Take a look if you happen to notice any see through, white, or stringy feces. That may point in the direction of internal parasites.

Do you have a hospital tank?
