Is this a Shrimp?

Ok, so last night when I did a water change, I rinsed the filter, and there were two of these swimming in the water.

Now It's the dead cold of winter, so I doubt it's a bug, but I could be wrong.

My only thinking is they came in on the Anacharis.

It looks like a scud, Gammarus Shrimp-Small crustation that can live in hot and cold water. Great fish food.

Yep, sure does look like a scud all right! You're right on, henningc. If you have any fish, they would gladly devour it.

I'm surprised my voracious Betta hasn't found it yet :)

I put him back in the tank, so we'll see how long he lasts
