Should I buy a 40g for $40?

Hey everyone, just thought I'd pop in with a quick question. One of my local fish stores is going out of business, but they're trying to sell off most of their display tanks. All the tanks have gravel, fake plants, an under-gravel filter, and a heater (I would assume). Currently, I have a stable 10 gallon tank of my own. The store is selling their tanks in 10, 20, 30, and 40, and in corresponding dollar increments of $10, 20, 30, and 40. Would buying the 40 gallon tank be a good deal, for the tank alone? I'd like to try to make a planted tank, although I know this would entail a new filter and substrate..

So, thoughts?

That's average price for the tank alone...but haggle with them to include some extras...:)

I encourage everyone to haggle when you can...

The tank alone is always the cheapest part of the aquarium IMO. You're probably better off on Craigslist unless you plan on using everything that the tanks comes with.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

i say its a go..if your looking for opinion...i mean look online and try to find a 40 that you know holds water and coms with thee setup minus lights...even if you did find such a thing it would have to be shipped or require a long drive to get from an unreputable source...go for it man....ADIOS....

Craigslist is a good way..especially if you are in a big city taking the brunt of the down economy..like here in las vegas..unfortunatley people are losing there jobs and home and they give some nice stuff away or for really really cheap.

Just make sur eyou ask the right questions...make sur eyou asked what has been in the take..Ive seen some where people have use them to change their oil..lol
