Set-up Critique

This is the current tank:
40 gal breeder
110 Aquaclear filtration(activated carbon, foam insert, biomax)
Refugium not being used(would LOVE to set up, don't remember how, HA! )
caribsea super natural blue ridge substrate(50lbs)
Manzanita branches
R/O water-filler yesterday
1-Solarmax HO(Actinic+10,000)
1-Solarmax HE(same as other)

My plan is to focus on fish with some plants. nothing extreme when it comes to a planted tank. I would like to replace the lights with different bulbs. Any info on the refugium being set-up on freshwater any links or info greatly appreciated!

I don't really know about the refugium, but do you have a heater or a thermometer? Water testing supplies?

I also think your lights will be overkill. If you're doing plants, I'd just do 6500k fluorescent, or I know people like LEDs. I only have experience with fluorescents. T8 should get the job done for you since you're not focusing on plants. A fertilizer like Flourish Comprehensive wouldn't hurt either!
