Seachem De-Nitrate?

I just learned about this product: Seachem De-Nitrate Nitrate Remover Aquarium Chemical Media

Supposedly it lets aerobic and anaerobic bacteria grow (if flow rate is no more than 50g) that consume the ammonia, nitrites, AND nitrates. Anyone ever use it?

Tried it once, it was a pain in the but. If I remember correctly you are suppose to put some directly in the filter, which is fine for a canister, but pain in the but for an HOB or intank as it likes to float up and get into the tank magically escaping from the filter sleve even when I tried it that way. I only have it because it came with a free tank and supplies from a friend. I don't think it is worth spending the money, when you can keep a tank properly running without it.

I would say keep to water changes, and possibly the liquid ammonia/nitrite/nitrate removed in extreme emergencies.

I agree w/ cbirk, in a properly cycled and maintained tank why would you even need it?? Seachem makes alot of great products and I use many of them but this wouldn't be one of them. JMHO.
