Sailfin picking on Platy? Suggestions?

Hi,

When I initially stocked my 20GL I started with 2 Red Wag Platys and 1 Black Sailfin Molly, trying to be conservative. One of the Platys passed away 2 days ago and now my Saillfin has begun bullying and chasing the remaining Platy. Tonight I introduced 4 Pink Corys and my Sailfin (Bubbles) completely ignores them. What should I do? Do I need to get another Platy? My Sailfin is a male, so is my Platy. Thanx, Kathy

From my experience with all the mollies I have had in the past ( all versions ), male mollies can be kind of a bully, and unless in a really big tank with lots to discover and others to spread out their "aggression", it happens. No matter how docile a specific species of fish is said to be, they all have some level of aggression. Heck, I even have one of my Harlequin Rasboras that is evil, and will charge and fight if I ever try to add more rasboras to his group, and he has successfully killed off like 3 adds this past year, so I gave up.

Next week or so, you could try another platy or two and see if it helps. Who knows. Good luck.
