Safe Driftwood?

I need some driftwood to anchor some of my java fern. In my one-horse town I've only been able to find something called Mac's Grape Driftwood. It doesn't say anything about being safe for aquarium use. I remember seeing somewhere that certain woods aren't good for aquariums, so before I buy this stuff and add it to my tanks I want to know if anyone else has used this wood or heard anything about it.

I have seen where ppl have used it and have seen where ppl have said not to use it. I think it is a soft wood that roots easily. Not sure on that but that's what i have heard. Also seen where ppl talk about have fungus problems. So not sure if I would use it. I no experience with this wood though just what I have read.

I am in the process of recovering my tank from putting a piece of grapewood in it.
Everything was fine for a day or two, but the is started to develop this cocoon of sap or fungus all around it, the water turned all cloudy and it really gummed up the filter pad.
I have been boiling my piece off and on for several hours, and the water is just now starting to come out clear.
If you go with it, boil it until the water doesn't turn brown, and then boil it again.
If you do a search on this forum for "White Film Driftwood" you'll see a couple of other threads on the subject.
