RO water

I have a water softener that uses salt to clean the water. I also have a 4 stage RO unit after the water softener.
Question--Will the water softener water be OK to use since it is going through an RO unit? I'm wondering if the RO unit is removing the salt that's added to the water from the softener.

Thanks for any responses.

the softener replaces calcium and magnesium with sodium, the RO unit removes the dissolved solids, including the sodium, but there really is no need to use the softener before the RO as the water it produces is no purer than the source water

regardless of the input source of the RO system and assuming the last stage is a DI cartridge (and depending on the system), the water it produces can be very pure and generally shouldn't be needed and can be detrimental to some fish and plants if used as is

can you not just use unaltered tap water?

The tds of my water out of the faucet is close to 600 (yep liquid rock). I use water before the water softener (600tds) mixed with water from my under the sink RO unit (40 tds and after the water softener) to give me the tds I need for my tanks. I just wasn't sure an RO unit would remove all of the sodium when I mix the 2 together.

Thanks for your help.
