Rena XP filters?

What do you guys think of the Rena XP filters? Would a Rena XP2 be too much for my 28 gallon tank? I'm getting ready to plant it, so I'd like to switch from my penguin 200 to a canister. How will this one do?

5.5 gallon: 3 snakeskin guppies/2 ADFs
28 gallon: still in the making (5 platies for now...)
5 gallon terrarium

I use an XP1 for two of my 29 gallons and they do a very nice job for me.
