My tank has been cycling since the first of April. all that is in there is a betta, feeder guppy, and a danio. I going to feed the guppy to my salt fish so that will only leave two fish in my 10 gallon. My question is will this be enough fish for the remainder of the cycle? I would like to get at least one more if it would be OK. My LFS has a good variety of fish. My pH is 8. Also thanks so much to the guys who have helped me with my tank on here.
The bacteria established during the cycle will be exactly enough to handle the bioload produced by whatever fish you've got in the tank. Add more fish and more ammonia will be produced, leading to a bigger bacteria colony being established. The more fish you have in the tank, though, the quicker ammonia can shoot up. If I were you I would cycle with a low number of fish and add new fish slowly to the tank once the cycle is complete.
For the cycle, you are better to have lesser fishes in the aquarium. There would be less chance to stress the fish and like Batman easier to keep a control on the ammonia.
