In a tank like that I would dose dry fertilizers such as KN03, KH2P04, and Trace fertilizers such as Plantex CSM+B. Heres a calculator to help figure out how much.

If you have soft water you can add in a GH booster also into the regime. If iron is needed you can use Fe/Iron Chelate 10%.

Thanks for the calculator! So I have been looking at EI Dosing, which is what you describe right? Where is the best place to purchase the dry fertilizers at? Also, when should I start dosing a newly planted tanks (2 days old)? Don't worry, the tank wont cycle, I'm using old aquarium water and and filters.

Yes its EI Dosing. Here is a good place to get dry fertilizers Planted Aquarium Fertilizer - , , , , Planted Aquarium Fertilizer - , ,

20~40gal tank
50% H20 change-weekly
1/4 Tsp-KN03 3x a week
1/16 Tsp-KH2P04 3x aweek
1/2 Tsp-GH booster once a week (if you have soft water)
5ml or 1/16Tsp-Trace 3x a week (Plantex CSM+B)

That is just a general dosing regime for those size tanks but it gives ya idea on when to dose.

Cool, thanks. I can't remember my water harness, but I'll use my tds meter from my saltwater setup to check.

Your Welcome!! Remember you may have to fool around with the dosing amounts and how much Co2 to use plus lights come into to get the best plant growth without algae. I am no help here with that as I have never done it. Have only read about it.

My order comes in today. How do I start out dosing. Do I use everything the first day, or do I start following the EI dosing schedule of one product a day?
