Is there anyway to maintain the PH of an aquarium naturally? Are there certain kinds of plants, bacteria, or animals that will keep the PH level at an optimal level?
The optimal level is whatever the fish need. There are alot of ways to maintain it at a certain level but it really isn't needed. I have 2 tanks that are at 7.2 and I maintain one tank at almost 8. The only time you need to worry about the pH is if you have specific fish that can not tolerate the higher or lower pH. A steady and constant pH is more important as the fish will adjust to whatever your pH is over time.
