Its for home use only. We photograph most of what we collect and usually return them soon after. This is a temp setup that might contain some transient small fish that could lleap. Maybe a light cover while were out.

I'm thinking 10" side walls, 2" substrate and 6" water depth. I plan to vacuum the sand as needed.

Any suggestions about filtration?

We plan to use a cooler since our home is much warmer than the stream water. Do you think that would create much current with the pump on one end and the return on the other?

Maybe if you had a strong pump and a spraybar, but you might need to add powerheads to really simulate a stream's current. I think a removable cover would be a great idea.
