question about feeding

I was wondering what would be good to feed my 2 algae eaters, 1 common pleco and 2 platydoras costatus (striped raphael catfish)? I typically feed my fish tetramin pro tropical crisps and frozen bloodworms a few times a week. I bought tetramin tropical tablets because it stated it was for bottom feeders. Would this be a good selection? And, if so, how many tablets would you recommend and how often?

Well you are going to have to test to see how much they consume in a specific time. There should be directions on your food. They are all different.

I am very picky when it comes to certain brands..you should look at the ingredients..look for natural food to the fish. Some expensive and high commercial products (like Hikari) contain a lot of filler products like yeast, flour and other junk. (they do this with dog food, cat food, etc) The best veggie rounds I have found are Omega One.

As far as feeding they recommend feeding 3 times a day using only as much food as they can consume in 2 mins. But I have 2 bushynose plecos about 2-3 inches and I give them both 1 chip 2 times day. I don't like my fish to go hungry so I also add 2 half inch slices of squash or cucumber tied to a rock, this keeps them fed without the negative effects of putting in too many messy veggie chips. I just leave them in there until they eat them up..which is very quick for my 2 little plecos.

Bloodworms are definately good to most fish. I have never seen them turned down. Sound like you will need to put in more bloodworms since your cats are mostly carnivores. Maybe 1/4 of a frozen block 2 times a day. I personally wouldn't use flake food as a main food supple for the fish you have but it is good to mix it up.

This is just my opinion..everyone may do it differently.

Hope I helped some!
