Any kind of bag/mesh will work as long as it is fine enough to keep the prawn in the sack. Otherwise you wind up with little pieces everywhere and have a real mess but not much different than if you were to leave it on the bottm of the tank. Remember too that contact with surfaces will help bacteria to grow. Maybe just drop the bag to the bottom once in a while and leave it for an hour or two in different places every day.

As for adding fish, when your ammonia and nitrites read 0 for 1 week, take out all of the prawn and do a very thurough gravel vac. When you have nitrates reading below 40ppm, 20ppm is better, then add your fish. Do not let your tank go without an ammonia source for more than 12-24 hours. Some say longer but being it will be a newly established tank, the shorter the time the better.

Sounds good, I found a couple decent sized lava rocks and a large piece of driftwood for practically nothing today. My pH was reading about 7.5 so I think the driftwood will help lower it just a pinch more.

Hopefully it will be a few more weeks then ready since Im starting to get a nitrate reading.
