I just spoke to the boss, they'll do it for me, no problem, but suggested to keep down the stress I QT them here and if there's troubles they'll work with me no problem (they're real good people really). So as far as the money concern I'd be safe there.
And it would avoid the add stress of the fish moving around over & over....
Of cause I'd wanna have them home ASAP in the QT so I can see them, but that's too selfish, their health gotta come first to me!

I'm not all sure yet really what I should do, but I'll give it few more days to think about it and collect feedback here and then figure it out....

I could care less wheather the shop qt the fish or not, I know certain shops around here don't but they still carry good fish. I won't buy fish that are newly shipped in. Weather the store qt or not, I still qt myself for a least two weeks before they go into one of my main tanks.

Due to ich being able to hide well, I always treat fish with a 1/2 dose of aquari-sol in qt. Regardless if they show symptoms or not. If they have only minor ich the half dose will get rid of it. I've never dealt with major ich problems. Ich is easy to get rid of if you keep up with the meds, I run them at least a week after all signs have dissapeared at 1/2 dose. I also deworm all fish in qt.

Why not order online then you will skip the store. and QT them at home. most places give you a 15 day stay alive warenty. Just my 2 cents...... I quit geting my fish through the lfs's because they havent been the healthest fish around. So i started ordering online. I havent had 1 sick fish yet. knok on wood. lol Your fish you get thro the pet store has most likely been shiped 5 to 6 time in the last 2 weeks, which stresses them even more. If ordered online you cut that down a time or 2 or more......So if i were to get one from the lfs i would let them qt them and pic them up in 2 weeks to see how healthy they are.....Most pet stores dont qt them, they just aclimate them. Putting them in the tank and selling them that day or the next. So you would have to see if they would hold that fish for you With out selling it, an geting a new one and saying oh ya thats the fish, when realy its not.

Only online place I know of that does the 2 week guarantees is live aquarium. However shipping can get really expensive and they don't carry a whole lot that I can't get around here or find cheaper from more trusted people online.

I know of a bunch of them if you want pm me and i will get them to you. Yes shiping is in there but the overall cost per fish is the same. I dont mean order just one fish. You would have to order a few or more then take the rest you dont want to the lfs and sell them to them after you picked out the ones you want. Say i order some tetras on line just say neons, I order 20 of them they cost me 1.50 and shiping is 30.00 which equals 60.00 al to gether. thats 3.00 a peice. Now the lfs is selling them for say 4.99, i saved 2.00. Now i take 10 of them put in my tank. and take the rest to the pet store and sell them to him for 3.00 a peice. I realy only paid 30.00. My lfs paid for the shipping. So realy you would end up with the same cost or a lot less. Mostly less. Im a ferm believer in online shopping and skiping the lfs. Due to unhealthy fish.

I honestly never attempted to shop online...Can you post or PM places you had this great success with so I can check them out?
The only reason I wanna go to this LFS is 1) I don't have to drive all over the State to 'collect' fish I want and 2) just like anything in in the day to day life, I try to put a effort into supporting local shops for anything...people get upset if local jobs go away but if everything was ordered from China and no one try's to shop local.....you see what i'm trying to do here..

Who ever is charging you $5 for a neon tetra seriously needs to be called out on it. That is a total and complete rip off. The shop I go to is $1.50 for neons then the price drops the more you get. 10 neons you can get for $14($1.40 each). Cardnial and rummynosed tetras are like $3.50 each then 6 for $20.

When I buy online its the rarer more expensive things you don't see in shops, or if you do the price is jacked up. If I needed a 100 neons then yeah maybe I would order online, but one of the local store will probably cut me a deal too. To me it just sound like you have a bad (and expensive) LFS. Half the time I buy fish its on credit anyway. I bring in stuff I raise and its easy to get $20 in store credit, they only pay 66% of what they sell if for. So really I don't pay anything I'm more so trading with them, but the store gets the better deal. I'm happy with my deal too.

I've also never actually done express shipping. The people I use will normally guarrentee $15 priority for me in the summer and I trust them to package the fish too survive the trip.

The Cardinals are like 2.80-2.90 here and the Rummys are like 1.5 or was even less then that, I know was just lil more then $1 for mine.....

Dang where do you people all live???? I think I'll reconsider and shop locally, and cheaper and no shipping cost

Yah cardinal are expensive around here. I know one store has a yearly sale which large rummies are $1 each. Otherwise they are also expensive..

I was actually shocked when I went into my LFS a few days ago. Was hoping to get some cardnials or rummynosed tetras. The store houses 8000gals of water, and they were out of both fish
