Protein Skimmer for freshwater?
I've seen people say that the water tension is not sufficient in a freshwater tank to let a protein skimmer skim. Before I added my surface siphon tube (that sucks water off of the surface), I would get a film on the surface of the water, to the point where any bubbles that did get under would never pop! Why wouldn't a protein skimmer work in this situation? Most people seem to add some surface turbulence to get the film back into the water where it can be filtered...why not just take it off?
