Problem with tank

Hey guys,

I just set up a new 30 gallon tank last night which I bought of craiglist. It came with everything including gravel which I washed before putting any water into the tank. Right now the tank is running but the water looks a bit cloudy and it smells a little bit. I'm not sure why it smells or why is the water cloudy. The only thing I added was the Chlorine remover and a bacterial start liquid.

Would anyone know whats going on or what should I do? The tank has no plants besides a couple of floating plants.

Thanks

I have just set up two tanks and they both were cloudy for a day or so. I think it is from the gravel. It seems you can rinse it all day long and each time it is moved you generate some of the cloudy situation.
That part should gradually clear up in a day or so.
I don't know about the rest.
Hope this helps a bit.

it should settle over the next few days,if it starts to go a milky colour
i think that's a bacterial bloom,and that also will clear it's self,
you don't have to wait to add plants, they can be added anytime, and they'll help.
