I don't usually answer these UGF questions anymore because Byron knows how I feel. You can look at my tanks pics if you'd like to see how plants do with them. I've used an UGF in this tank for over 30 years without any issues. If the power goes out for any length of time, the plants will filter the water.

I don't necessarily endorce any particular filter. It's really a personal choice. But UGFs do work for me.
