I would retest ammonia tomorrow, before adding anymore. It does not seem likely that you could go from 8ppm to 1 with a 50% water change. Give the water a chance to circulate.

ok...and i definitely need to find an eye dropper to dose the ammonia. Until i do, is there any reccomendation you guys have for measuring enough to dose a 20 gallon? my tap water has 0 ammonia and nitrites btw.

Counting drops is really the best way to keep track of the amount of ammonia you add. If you have any empty clean bottles that have a dropper cap, that would work.

Look in the infant section of stores such as Walmart or Target. You can find medicine droppers for a couple bucks.

Yeah I planned on heading out to Target today and going to take a look. So i tested my water this morning after the water change yesterday afternoon. This is what i came up with.

thats where theyre hiding them. lol. i went looking up and down the kitchen isle with no luck. the only one they had was too big for my purposes.
