pleco question

well first I'm still kinda new to fishkeeping. a couple weeks ago I had a couple fish die(one of which was a pleco) due to a issue with my heater, but all is fixed and well now. I've been looking around on this forum and have decided that I want to switch to sand. now this might be a stupid question but is it safe for me to get another pleco if I have sand as a substrate?

you can definatly get a pleco with sand..just be sure to have driftwood spo they get their fiber... check my post titled..finally some tank pics...for some good shots of my plecos... remember thaty you will need a substrate you can vacuum due to the lage amounts of waste plecos produce

How long has the tank been set up and what size tank? What particular pleco are you considering? Some plecos seldom reach five inches in length while others can reach twenty inches or larger.
They often add to the waste in an aquarium rather than providing any benefit with regards to cleaning up.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.

its been setup for about 4 months. its a 55 gallon tank. and I'm not completely sure what kind I had but it was the size of my pinky finger when I got it and wasn't much bigger when it died and I had him for 2 months.

P.S. I had the heater that was faulty for 5 months and I am still fighting with the company that makes it to get at least some of my money back...but no luck.

Maybe you could visit.. and perhaps discover a pleco that interests you. I personally like all plecos ,but the Bristlenose is fast becoming a favorite. They usually do not exceed five inches and are much more active during the day than some,or most others. Would do well over sand substrate.
