Hi,

Basically I need an RO unit because my well water is just off-colored and nasty. It is very high in iron and CO2 which makes the pH fluctuate drastically. I have done a fair amount of research on them but still don’t know what make and model would be best. If you have experience with using Reverse Osmosis I would greatly appreciate any advice. Also I was wondering if RO water will still be ok to use for a planted tank? From what I have read it strips the water of all the trace elements that plants need to live. Another question I have is can the trace elements be effectively put back for not much money?

Thanks,

Kevin

If you are looking for a good unit I would check bulkreefsupply.com they have high quality stuff all the way from entry level RO to really crazy ones. As for RO in planted tank you could use a fertilzer like seachem flourish to put the trace elements back into the water. You probably should be doing that anyways beacuase plants need 17 essential nutrients and your tap water most likely doesn't have any.

Thanks outpost, I will check it out. I need to find one with a beefy pre-filter. :)
