I just wanted to comment on the serpaes, I think the fin nipping must have something to do with #'s and maybe tank size. The reason I say this is becuase I haven't had 1 problem with them. I have a school of 12.
I am another soul happily lost to the aquarium addiction..
7 Angels (2 marble, 1 blue diamond, 1 leopard, 1 not too sure & 2 Koi)
10 Serpae Longfin Tetras
6 Congo Tetras
2 Clown Loachs
2 Gold Gouramis
1 Dwarf Blood Gouramis
1 Blue Gourami
1 Moonlight Gourami
2 Baby Hypostomus plecostomus
1 Grey Bichir (4 1/2" - 5 ")
Like I said before, they're like any other tetra, a schooling fish. 12 of them lets them feel secure in their shoal and they don't have to go around beating up other fish.

The only things that happen quickly in an aquarium are bad things.
