Yeah I asked my dad about the water softener and how it was plumbed, and he said that it wasn't very smart. Because I am only 14, I unfortunatly do not have a whole lot of power over decisions like that. But I guess I just have to work around it. I am planning on buying all of my RO from my LFS for the time being. Right now I only have two tens and a future 45 gallon. How much would bottled water be? Because I can get RO for 30 cents a gallon at my LFS. That is something to look into for sure though.

Bottled water would be more than 30 cents/gallon. But remember for RO, that you'll have the costs of additives and hauling.
You'll probably gonna want to ramp up filtration/purification so as to minimize, as much as practical, the volume of weekly water changes.

Well I only would use equilibrium, which costs four dollars and will last me 15-30 weeks. And that is about it besides some aragonite sand for the livebearer tanks. Personally I think it's pretty reasonable. Moreover, I got a heater and air pump for my RO storage, so I should be using it real soon here.
