Plants for Aquarium

Hi, my fiance' and I have a 55gal tank. We tried putting a plant in at one time but our blue lobster cut it and ate it. I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with this or know of any hardy, thick plants that could withstand a lobsters pinchers?

Possibly anibus or a large amazon sword? I gave up on real plants in my larger tank until my lobster passed away.

Ok I will def. Read up on those. I think the plants would really help keep the water quality good but everytime we add a plant he likes to eat it all up. Haha plants would also be beneficial to the other species of fish we have in our tank. Sorry about your loss. I love our lobster he has a real funny personality. I would hate to lose him even those eventually I know it will happen.

I have to say since my lobster passed I have fully planted my tank. I bought a Mexican dwarf crawfish. Basically a mini version and he doesn't bother the plants at all.

Wow, never even heard of that species of crawfish but then again we were fascinated at our little blue lobster when we first saw him at the pet store. Didn't know they came in that color and as a aquarium pet. My fiance wanted him right away. I don't think they even sell those around here. Only fish stores we have are petsmart and petco. And other fish stores only sell cichlids or saltwater fish. Might have to check in other states around me. I'll def. Get my fiance to look up the little guy you have.

plants behind a partition where the lobster can't get to 'um.

my .02

maintain Fw and marine system with a strong emphasis on balanced, stabilized system that as much as possible are self substaning.

have maintained FW systems for up to 9 years with descendants from original fish and marine aquariums for up to 8 years.

With no water changes, untreated tap water, inexpensive lighting by first starting the tank with live plants (FW) or macro algae( marine)
