i would still start of with fewer gouramis. u can always get more later on if they behave themselves. did they have any females? i'm just curious to know what they looked like, dont think i've ever seen one in person.

Soory while im typing my reply u r reply comes and i dont include what i was gunna say in that one im not being rude i jst take so long typing!! They did have females but there were greyish, i think i may start with fewer u can always add more but cant tanke away!!

well, reading through an old diary i found an entry where i said '..the last danio died today'.....not a good sign! so i guess i must have had some in the past. don't remember them though.

yeah, i'm going to do a south east asian biotope and i wanted some small peaceful shoaling fish, and cherry barbs came to mind. i don't have any yet and i don't know when my mum will be ok with taking me to the lfs but once i have them i could maybe tell you how they behave and stuff?

you're thinking of tiger barbs, and yes they are a menace (not that i've ever had any...too scared to haha)
the Cherry Barb (click on the name and you'll get the species profile for them) are hardy and fairly peaceful shoaling fish, though. they are cute little fish IMO...

actually, they might be a good fish to start off with...they are meant to be able to withstand cycling. danios and cherry barbs as first fish, or one or the other?
