I have 3 gallons of distilled to add to soften it , and I'm holding back at the moment because I don't know if I need to follow a ratio or anything, and if I need to use water conditioner on distilled.
It's a 14 gallon tank.

1 male halfmoon betta, 10 harlequin rasbora, 2 (small) rubbermouth pleco, bamboo shrimp, 3 ghost shrimp (and some shrimp fry being raised!!!)

I've never had to do this, but my understanding is that the GH/KH will be lowered by proportion. So mixing say half tap and half "pure" should cut the GH in half.

No, you don't need to use conditioner with any form of "pure" water, just the tap.

Ok I did some googling, found that distilled does not need conditioner and the ratio is half cuts down ph by half I've gone ahead and added the distilled since 3 gallons is far from half of 14, so gradual is good.

Edit: just saw your reply, I see I pretty much did what you are going to suggest. I thought the app refreshed the thread lol thanks for all the help!
