Peat moss, what exactly to do

So I have the peat moss things and a media bag.

1. How much do I use?
2. Since they are the planter refill things, do I take off the net thing it comes with or leave it on to hold it together

Mainly, just how much to use. The things are about the size of a half dollar and about 1/4 inch thick and I have a 75 gallon tank.

The problem is, there is no one answer. It depends on the water qualities of your tank. If your pH and hardness are very high, you'll need more to bring it to neutral than you would if your water is only somewhat hard. What are your pH goals? If anything, start with a small amount (for 75 gallons, try something like a 4" by 4" cube's worth) and wait a week to see what it does. Just be really careful about your water changes once you've deviated from the tap, try to do more frequent small changes instead of the weekly wallop most of us deal.

Knifegill is correct, its totally dependent on your GH and KH. I would test your water before doing anything. If your GH and KH are very high, you might be looking at a dark brown tea-colored tank before you see changes in your PH.

If you put the peat in a media bag then I think you should be fine
