, but they grow to be pretty long and will still eat small fish, but if you have very big guppies they may not be a problem. For any eel, sand is the best substrate because they have no scales and can easily be scratched by sharp gravel. The next eel like fish that I can think of would be a bichir, but they may be predatory to small fish, idk.
