Is this overstocked??

Hey guys! I'm wondering if this would be overstocked for a 25 gallon tank. I intend on getting about 6 or so plants as well.

5 Long finned zebra Danios
5 Cherry Barbs
5 Neon Dwarf Rainbowfish
2 otos

Thanks in advance!

The following results are based on an Aquarium Stocking Calculator called AqAdvisor. The opinion of this setup being overstocked is probably going to vary from user to user, though. For beginners and intermediates, I would not recomend stocking more than what AqAdvisor calculates.

Tank (LxDxH): 24 x 12 x 20 inch (24.9gUS)

Selected species: [Edit Species]

5 x Zebra Danio (Danio rerio)
5 x Cherry Barb (Puntius titteya)
5 x Neon Dwarf Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia praecox)
2 x Oto (Otocinclus vittatus)

Recommended temperature range: 23 - 24 C. [Display in Farenheit]
Recommended pH range: 6 - 7.8.
Recommended hardness range: 5 - 15 dH.

Recommended water change schedule: 32% per week.
Your aquarium stocking level is 123%.

CichlidHaven - 55g (under construction!)
0.0.7 Black Widow Tetra
1.0.1 Convict Cichlid

HermitBase - 10g
Zephus & Monoculus the Purple Pinchers (Coenobita clypeatus)

x1 Convict Cichlid Pair (actively breeding)

I'd probably skip the danios for now and start with just the rainbows and barbs. Then again, it also depends on your filtration and water quality.

Make sure the tank is fairly long as the rainbows are very active swimmers.

Tank 1: (29 gal planted) empty
Tank 2: (15 gal) empty

I would go further and say you are overstocked. The danio and rainbow are active swimmers, and while 24 inches is the minimum tank length in our profiles both would fare much better with a 30-inch tank (like a 20g long or 29g). One but not both of these in a 20g tall (24-inch length).

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business.
