Overstocked?

Okay so I just inherited a tank from a friend who is going to Iraq to serve and I feel that it's overstocked, but I wanted other's opinions.

It's a 10 gallon tank with a heater and filter that has:

1 Female Betta
1 Danio
1 Pleco
1 Snail
1 Small Angelfish
1 Red Platy
2 What I think are Dawn Tetras

Is this too much to have in such a small tank? Should I move some to another tank, if so which ones and to what type of tank?

Overstock

Well it also depends on the size of the fish, as a very general rule it is on inch of fish per inch, however certain species (like puffers) require more than this

2 - 10 gallons various stage guppy nurseries
2- 40 gallons everything from puffers to cichlids
1 - 55gallon Puffer Haven (in progress)

The plec and angel need a much larger tank. I would take them to a lfs to be rehomed.

I like danios in a bigger tank because they are so active. Maybe members will say they are fine in 10g. they need numbers of 6 or more to be happy however. The same goes for most tetras (that they like larger numbers)

The only local fish stores I have near me are Petsmart and Petco, will they take the pleco and angel?

Just an update, my Pleco and Angelfish went to the local Petco where only an hour I got a call from the guy who helped me out saying that the Angelfish went to an avid collector and the Pleco went to him as well so I'm quite happy they've got a new home and the tank is a little more free. I noticed almost immediately the Danio and Tetras started playing and moving around more :)
