OMG, high water temp!

Greek summer has just started, and the ambient temperature in my house is 84F. Before the weather got really hot I was having no trouble maintaining the 81 that my blue rams need, and I'm sure they're loving the high temps (in fact they definitely seem to), but I'm a little worried about my red tailed black shark and pleco. Are they going to be ok with the temp fluctuating between 81 and 84 day and night?

The Red Tailed Shark should not be kept above 78F permanently, so your normal 81F is too high. Is it showing any distress?

The Ram and pleco will likely be fine.

He seems right as rain, the regular 81 temp has been the norm for about a week, and the last 2 days the tank reached 84 during the day (dropping again at night). He's eating normally, in fact he's growing fast and his colours have deepened considerably, the fin damage from the shop tank is all completely repaired now (after only a week :O), and he goes about his merry business, all over the tank, comes up to feed, and seems to be doing great. Hope he feels ok. Is it worth putting a fan blowing on the tank during the day maybe?

Temporary higher temps can usually be handled.

Thanks to Byron for keeping us panic free during our summer temperatures around the world.

This is my first year of tropical fishkeeping and I had the same question earlier. Funny that I never thought about the water being too hot until the weather warmed up. Don't get me wrong, I love the early summer.
