Old water

OK here goes a question I have ...... I have been thinking about this one at work now
for better than a week...... I have Now a 180 gallon tank with a wet/dry filter...
I am almost ready to set this up ( ADD WATER ) ....
I went to HOME DEPOT and purchased 18 5 gallon buckets thinking that it would be
best to save the water that was in the tank..... these buckets have a seal on the top
so I know no AIR has entered the buckets....Would the water still be good to use?
it has been almost a month since I purchased......
ANY THOUGHTS or Experience would HELP.......

thanks
Ron

The water won't be beneficial, old or new it won't. And sitting this long I'd think it went bad anyway w/out a filter or pump to keep it moving in there.
The only beneficial part where your bacteria is living that does help to carry into new tanks w/out interruptions (letting it sit long or go dry) is your filter media and/ or gravel as that's where your bacteria lives.

Sorry to tell ya Ron, but you'll have to start with a complete cycle there again unless you have another running & established tank in the house?

I am not to concerned about the cycle... its about all this water...
should I toss it out?
or USE IT?
if its to no benifit then I will toss it and start fresh.. but
if there is some benifit then I will use it.....

There won't be, like I said there'll be no bacteria in there so there's really no point. The only place that would be beneficial as far as bacteria is filter media & gravel.
