Old Pleco vs New Pleco

Is it bad to have 2 Pleco's in a tank together. My regular pleco was established for about 3 years. The pleco "Jaws" is a 8" regular pleco and the new pleco is a 5" Royal Pleco I named "Zooty the Pinstripe Gangster". Is it wise to make a hiding spot for my Royal pleco so my regular doesn't harass it? I'm afraid of him not eating. In his little spot I made him has 6 Clown loaches that might beat him to any food I give him any ideas on what to do? I'd hate to get rid of my regular pleco but I want to keep the royal pleco.

Any ideas?
Thanks everyone!

Yes, many plecos are aggressive with their own kind, and will not tolerate another, especially as the get older.

Hi Zooty, welcome to the forum. On keeping multiple plecos, what size is your tank? Yes, multiple hiding spots would be very beneficial. As far as your clowns making off with your plecos food...I have clowns and a pleco. I put the food in for my pleco at night, after the tank lights have gone off, and right before I go to bed. My clowns have already settled in for the night at this time and don't bother with my pleco's food.

The tank size is 75gal. The area I have for the Royal Pleco is probably about 10 gallons of room he shares most of the time with 3 of my clowns. I've been trying to drop algae pellets by him, hopefully he's eating them!
