okay i keep seeing really neat fish and it doesn't seem like i can talk myself out of buying them..
this is what i have i know my tank is over stocked, i do regular water changes and my water perameters are fine. and i have no fighting...
50 gal
1 paradise gourami
1 BGK
1 bichir eel
1 farswella
2 lace synadontis
1 angle
6 black skirts
6 lemon tetras

but then in quaratine i have
3 small balas
1 african butterfly fish

now i do have a 20 gal that i'm trying to trade for a 29gal ( which isn't being sucessful) and i was going to take the tetras out and make a tetra tank.
then i would move over the bala's and then the african butterfly

my goal is to get a 100 or a 150 gal tank i just need a bigger place and everyone in the tank is slow growing

a note on the butterfly fish it is eating ( i made the lfs guy feed it) today it took some blood worms its got to be one of the coolest fishes ever!!!!

but i must get a hold of the tank obsession

Ummm I just read that your eel grows to be 12inches long and loves live food and might eat your tetras and Bala sharks grow to be very large as well... I didn't read up on your other fish but YOU should to see how big they will get.
Yeah, sounds like getting a bigger tank is a good idea. Being obsessed is ok, as long as it doesn't start causing you more problems and doing more harm than good.:p

You will probably have problems with the Paradise. They can get very mean. I have seen them remove eyeballs from larger fish. Slower moving fish are easy prey.

No point worrying about the addiction. You are hooked. there is no hope. Soon everything in your house that will hold water will have fish in it. You will have live worms in your fridge. At some point you will hit bottom (or just decide that its all too much work) and scale it back to a manageable level ( if you are lucky)

i'll transfer ceramic rings from my other tank when i'm ready in a few days.
i went to the fish shop today and walked out with nothing:shock:
but i'll be back......oh yes i'll be back !!

lol i'm glad i'm not the only one...alothough my bf has put a limit on my tanks so i guess he's my control method on this one..as for the size of the fish i'm well aware of the sizes they will get....i also know they will grow slow so i have some time... as for the paradise its a female who i have had for about a year with no problems so i'm lucky i guess...
