16 dollars wasted because I dont get a refund unless I pay 36 dollars for shipping. I spoke with these jerks on the phone and all they responded was "too bad"
dont waste your money buying from oddballpets.com if your trying to order something by mail it just doesnt work out.
It was the Assassin snail. I found the website by looking for assassin snail stores online that could ship them. Its so sad they put it in this tiny little bag with no food or anything.
but what was I thinking the store is in pensilvania and Im in Georgia how is something going to survive such a long trip...:-(
Hi leogtr, I'm so sorry for this bad experience, and the loss of the snail ! (and money) I know you care very much for all living things. The trouble with Mail is it is the same as mailing a letter, maybe priority will get it to you in two days, but the extra shipping costs put the delivery into courier shipping which is air plane, or truck and they would have hopefully bagged it with oxygen rather than regular air like at the LFS. Also fish should be shipped with a heat pack and a time schedule to pick it up.
For example...
Look at this website's testimonial page: Please email us at lamhoufai@hot Read some of their stories or good experiences.
I don't think they ship to the USA but they do ship from Vancouver to Ottawa and Toronto. You have to meet the flight, it's all arranged prior, and you pay big for the service.
Just look the site over to get better understanding of how a good quality operation works to be aware. You would be better to have your LFS order one in for you and wait for it. That way it comes in their regular shipment packed accordingly. And they could hold one for you for a couple of days to de-stress from the journey.
oh ya... enjoy the fish pics!! I'm afraid to order... too stressful for me!!
I went to a Chain Pet Store here and found assassins for 2.99 ea i bought 3... really watch what you pay on shipping costs and that goes for ANYTHING you buy on the internet ;-)
ohh duhh!! local fish store..wow Im pretty slow as you can tell.
Oh man I really made a badddd deal there..Im the kind of person salesmen like..very easy to rip off... gosh why I did that I dont know but next time Ill definitely consult with my fellow fish keepers to see what they think
thank you skunkmang. It really bothers me that the snail didnt make it but oh well..life goes on.
They really are fun to watch. Leogtr, I'll be happy to send you one. I guarantee mine will arive alive. RCS are red cherry shrimp. They are much more delicate than snails as far as shipping. I shipped a batch of RCS to Calmwaters and all arrived alive except a few did die. If you can't find an assasin at a good price let me know and I'll help you out.
Just to add about buying online... buying from aquabid is like buying from any other auction site. Always look at the feedback. I have bought a few things and have been very pleased every time so far (knock wood)..
As far as other online sites, don't be afraid to ask if any one here has had experience with any particular site. If you have a good LFS then you are fortunate. But I have 2 chain stores, and then one locally owned pet store here where I live, but while that store does sell other pets besides fish, they do a good job and will generally order fish in for me if I pre pay.
That said, I guess the bottom line is just check out who you are dealing with.. and it doesn't have to always be bad... I have no doubt Kymmie will get you fixed up if you can't get any assassin snails any other way. They certainly saved my tank from my MTS issue.
Hi Leogtr
I was actually referring to the fish pics on the website link in my reply. The link is to a company called Canadian Aquatics and if you click on the Home tab or the Live Stock page you will see some amazing fish available to be shipped across Canada...(by plane)
My pic with the dog is a male, and he is a pure Wire Haired Fox Terrier, This is what he is supposed to look like wire haired fox terrier breeders ontario - Google Search
but we don't clip him short. So yes he has a curly shaggy thick coat.
Good luck with the snails.

ohhhhhhhhhhhh. really? Ill check it out have you ever seen the Mandarin Dragonets??? wow they are absolutely unbelievable they really are.
oh hes kinda like the one my aunt found but the one she found is a girl and she was pregnant! I know its not a terrier because her face is different but shes curly hair too
Yikes, now I'm worried your snail wasn't dead, since you could see his probiscus (or whatever it is called?) out. Usually when a snail dies it shuts it trap door and that's that. These snails can go dormant for a bit, it's not unusual for me to see mine buried in the sand, with just an itty bit of its shell exposed and it just sits there for sometimes 24 hours. Are you sure the snail was dead?? I'm sure you know if it was, I'm just checking to make sure, not sure if you knew that they can go motionless for a bit.
she's/he's definitely dead. I had him in the tank and the other snails just got all over him and began building on top of him/her like if they were making a snail tower..strange..
I wish he would have been dormant but there really is no sign of life in him/her
I know its hard when you've been burned to lump everyone in that same bad experience, but the people here on these forums are wonderful.. generous and very knowledgeable.
Like I said, for my 55 gal I wound up with 5 assassin snails, but my MTS population had gotten extremely out of hand. They are very thorough and will eat then sort of rest for a day then hunt again. I am told also they are very slow to breed themselves, and who knows, if you wind up with a surplus, perhaps you can make a deal with your local store...
