nitrates

so i have 3 tanks 2 of them the nitrates were 5.0 ppm and my 50 gal read 10.0 ppm. ammonia read 0 on all three, ph was 7.6 and the 50 gal was 7.2, nitrites were 0 in all three. should i do a water change. i did change the gravel for sand yesterday is this going to have an ill affect?

Those are ideal levels. Did you use a liquid test kit?

You're okay. Keep monitoring your parameters and do a water change wherever necessary.

kool thanks... is the reason the nitrates are higher in the 50 gal is that it is a lager tank with more water?

kinda sorta. you have more waste production this particular setup. 20-40ppm is about the max you want for nitrates. if your tank is heavily plants keep the nitrates at or above 10ppm.
