Nothing amazing yet, but it's taken me a good few hours so I thought I'd share my progress!
My 12 and 14 gallon tanks and my teeny tiny shrimp tank. Dennerle Deponit 9 in 1 fert under Dennerle Quartz gravel (1-2mm, rounded), Superfish Aqua-Flow 200 in the 12 gal and 400 in the 15, sponge air filter in the shrimp tank, usual heaters and submersible suction LED lighting
I'm thinking some low-light, easy stuff, Java Fern, Anubias nana, some crypts and maybe some Java moss on driftwood, possibly some surface floating plants, not sure yet
I'm going to try Flame Moss on driftwood in the shrimp tank as well, with the anubias, I think that might be it, a little shrimp house, maybe some dwarf hairgrass but that might be too difficult for me so I'm not sure yet
Fauna-wise, I've got some nearly set plans
12 gal tank: 1 x Honey Gourami, 10 x Chili Rasbora, 5 x Ember Tetra (I might adjust those numbers) and then 2 x Peacock Gudgeons - I'm still pondering them
14.5 gal tank: 1 x Sparkling Gourami, 6 x Spotted Blue Eyes (Gertrude's), 6 x Norman's Lampeyes and 8 x Dainty Cories (habrosus)
The shrimp tank will have cherry reds; I was thinking Crystal reds but I'm not sure, I've not had much luck with them in the past
12 gal tank: 1 x Honey Gourami, 10 x Chili Rasbora, 5 x Ember Tetra (I might adjust those numbers) and then 2 x Peacock Gudgeons - I'm still pondering them
I've got the hardscape in the tanks now: next stage, plants!
flchamp89: interesting, I might try that instead. You know, looking at it again I completely agree; I can't remember why I thought that was doable... lol
I'm going to try: 1 Honey Gourami, some ember tetras (not sure how many though, did you have any suggestions?) and the 2x peacock gudgeons in the black tank
and then: 1 x Sparkling Gourami, 8 x dainty cories and probably the Lampeyes in the blue tank, IDK about the Gertie's, I think I might need to wait until I get space for yet another tank
Thank you!
aussieJJDude: Hallo! I like the Embers more than the Chili's so I'm just going to go with a load of them, but I'm not sure how many? AQAdvisor is telling me something like fricking 20, I doubt.
And yeah, I think I'll go with the Lampeyes in the blue tank, I love them
Cherries, w00t! I like the look of the blue ones but I've heard they don't breed true? I think the reds will really pop against the black substrate?
I'd go with around 8 embers, but thats me. But you could easily go up to 16 or so if you stock gradually.
As for breeding true, you need only one colour morph. Have a few reds in a blue cherry tank, the resulting offspring will turn an ugly mutt - aka: no colouration. As long as you just keep the blues in there, they will stay blue. As for reds popping against the black substrate, they do. Just get a nice higher grade - anything above sakura grade, fire reds or better yet, bloody mary's would look amazing. Yellow cherries also pop too, even rilis do look nice.
